Having read Percy Jackson as a kid myself, I side with everyone else's kids on here. Those films were monstrosities. The original books are lighthearted, lightly educational love letters to Greek Mythology with likeable characters and a lot of wit. The films tried to turn it into angsty, generic action/adventure.
